Louf Effects Collection | Sound Design and MIDI Effects Racks

As an electronic producer, I'm constantly trying to make sounds that are unique. I created these effects racks from Ableton's stock effects to give myself some quick, low-CPU sound design and composition tools. They turn simple sounds and ideas into complex, rich textures.

EFFECTS CHAINS:

TEXTURIZER

Adds a soft texture, with short-decay reverb mixed in. Creates a washed-out Lo-Fi effect, particularly effective on pads and vocals.

METALLIC TEXTURIZER

Creates a noisy, crisp metallic texture, to layer over drums, vocals, noise samples...

RISE

Rise is a creative sound design effect rack for Live. Quickly transform any track into intricate textures or create instant riser-style builds.

It features 13 different carefully crafted effects chains, with one knob to control the intensity.

SHIMMER

Utilises Live's Hybrid Reverb effect, focusing in on the 'shimmer' algorithm but using it as a textured and pitched delay instead of a reverb.

DRUM FX

Sits nicely on a drum group/bus, with a variety of effects made for build ups and drops. Works best when used with automation.

TREMOLO

Four synced tremolos at different intervals. I made it to give drum groups additional rhythm but it also works well on melodic tracks.

THREEVERB

Utilises three Hybrid Reverbs with individual parameters for creating non-standard echoes and textures.

MORPH_DRUMS

16 Wavetable drum sounds in one kit. The sounds are inspired by modular synth drums.

Each sound is carefully crafted, with every knob linked to multiple parameters, allowing you to twist, shape, and morph each sound in unpredictable ways.

WEATHERED_DRUMS

All sounds in this pack are built using Live's powerful built-in synths and effects, blending the gritty, dusty vibe of Lo-fi drums with unconventional synth-based percussion. Each sound is rich with texture and depth, with lots of live modulation options.

SYNTH_DRUMS

Made entirely with Live's Drift Synth, this collection delivers punchy, impactful drum sounds inspired by analog drum machines. Built with performance in mind, the stretch, squeeze and beat repeat knobs create unpredictable sound design and rhythmic patterns on the fly.

OTHER DEVICES:

CHORDS (MIDI DEVICE)

Play in a single note and it will generate lush chord patterns in any chosen key. Chance-based variations in note create constantly evolving chord patterns.

SUB

A quick and easy sub bass synth built from Live's Wavetable Synth, with quick easy access to the controls you need to sculpt the perfect sub bass for any track.

HOW TO INSTALL:

Drop the .adg file into your Ableton Library Folder at this location: User/Music/Ableton/User Library/Presets/Audio Effects/Audio Effect Rack. Alternatively, Drag and drop the .adg file into any Ableton project and save them by clicking the save icon at the top left side of the rack.

These devices are built in Ableton Live Suite, using devices that feature in Live 11 and onwards. (specifically, Hybrid Reverb). They will not work in older versions of Ableton Live.
